We’re In…let the IVF begin…

We’re in! We made it into the study. Wow, we are really moving forward with IVF. Its crazy to even try to imagine what we are about to encounter. I am excited for the prospect, grateful (it always stings a bit when I say grateful for anything in this whole process, but there are times I am genuinely grateful, I like life so much more in those moments, and right now is one of those moments) for the opportunity, but also realistic about that fact that it may not work, and it will be a very involved journey.  But, if it does not work, we know that we are meant to adopt, right? We will give it enough tries to utilize all the eggs created this first round and if it does not work, we will start saving for adoption.  Which by the way, are you aware that the federal government gives everyone (depending on income and a few other things, but pretty much everyone meets it) a over $11,000 tax credit.

Book Recommendations For Infertility

Since I have begun this journey, recommendations have been presented to me like a bullets aimed at a firing squad. (I am sure you can relate.) I appreciate all the care behind the recommendations, I do……however sometimes recommendations are not the most helpful thing, just a listening ear and a little empathy is.
So with that said, I have reviewed the many recommendations (well most of them) I have received and come up with a list of the most helpful books that have come from these recommendations.  You may not want recommendations right now, but if you do, you can rest assured these are from people who have walked the infertilty road.  Even though they are not a “live person,” I believe these books will offer you the listening ear and empathy, as well as direction you are looking for..they have for me.

**I have found most of these books at my local library**

What to do???

So today my husband and I went to see the doctor.  We have been doing the IUI process for what seems like forever now.  (Clomid - it is the devil for me. I don’t even like being around me when I am on it, I can’t imagine how my poor husband and closest loved ones feel).  With the intent of moving forward in our journey, moving away from Clomid (though, yes, I would sadly be on it for years, well maybe not years…..but a long time, if it meant conception would finally occur), and figuring out our financial options, we made our way to the big beautiful building, that symbolizes so little beauty to us, but still a bit of hope.

Lunar Eclipse and Sunshine

I haven’t written in a couple days because the sun came out. I live in the pacific northwest, (Astoria, Oregon to be mo7re specific.) so here in the “specific” northwest, the sun hardly likes to show it’s face for more than a few minutes in between summers. Well, we had three days or sunshine…absolutely gorgeous, blazing warm sunshine. It must have hit 55 degrees here! Jeff’s dad came up from7 southern California to help his you7ngest son make the move to Portland. Astoria, as she always does when visitors com7e, put on her pretty face. Not a cloud in the sky…ships came in, lazily from7 faraway asian countries and docked in the sandbar, waiting for their pilot captains to putter out and navigate them through the mucky sandtraps.
