It’s Tired Out Today

By, Sonja Stewart

I think my coffee may be broken…I just can’t seem to wake up.

I know if I put in my walking dvd I would get the blood rushing which would get me to wake up more, but just the thought of it makes me want to crawl back into my warm snuggly bed and fall asleep.

Last night I worked at the coffee shop at my church. I volunteered, I should say. I figured my three years as a Starbucks barista shouldn’t be put to waste, and thought I could help those in need…of a good latte.I know what you’re thinking. If you aren’t living in the

Pacific Northwest, you’re thinking, what do you mean a latte? Are you serious? My church serves lukewarm Folger’s crystals with stale cookies. Well, welcome to

Astoria
, baby…and any other city out here.

Seattle
,

Portland
,

Olympia
, you name it, they probably serve lattes in church as well. It is it’s own religion here; the perfect cup of coffee. We serve this stuff called Thundermuck. It’s a local brew by these amazing people in

Astoria
. I met the owner, Nancy at the supermarket my second day here. Just awesome. And the coffee wakes me up. So, no, I am not drinking Thundermuck this morning. Maybe I’ll walk over to the rusty cup and solve all my problems since my brew is apparently broken.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, if there is one. I worked in the coffee ministry last night, (dude, it’s seriously called that. I love it. I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m serving people in need!) and I just couldn’t resist the temptation. I pulled a couple perfect shots, poured them into a half pump chocolate and a half pump caramel, added milk and ice, and I was ready to bible study!!! Wooo hoooo!!!!…..Too bad it was seven o clock at night.I’m too old to drink coffee after anymore. in the morning rolls around, Jeff is snoring, the cats are sleeping, jojo’s been out for hours, and I’m still up.Seven came too soon this morning, and now I’m putting a band aid on a head wound by drinking more coffee….wasn’t that what got me into this mess to begin with?Boo.
